In the weeks before their deaths, a mother who climbed over the Niagara Falls barricade with her two small children before sadly jumping from the cliff posted a flurry of postings aimed at her daughter’s father.
New York state police were called to Luna Island near Niagara Falls on Monday, October 28, at approximately 9:00 p.m., when visitors claimed to have seen a mother and her two children cross the barrier at the top of the well-known cascade.
In a statement released yesterday (October 30), police identified the mother as Chianti Means and her children as Mecca Means, age five, and Roman Rossman, age nine.
Means “went over” the “safety guild rail” before walking “over” the falls, according to the official report, which described the act as “deliberate in nature”.
A member of the New York State police said in an interview with WKBW TV: “We’ve come to the conclusion that a 33-year-old mother, a nine-year-old son and then a five-month-old were all gone over the falls.”
“We do believe it was intentional but the circumstances of that investigation and the circumstances of what actually happened are still under investigation.”
“But we know that they went over due to the information from park police and some of the information we were able to obtain through multiple different sources in and around Niagara Falls and pieces of evidence we were able to come across in search warrants.”
They continued: “They went there and they never came out. So that’s where we’re at. […] Like I said, there’s a lot of safety railings and a lot of security measures at the state park, so it’s not something where they just stumbled in.”
Officials are still looking for the three bodies as of this morning.
Means made some terrifying confessions about her love for Mecca’s father on her Facebook page, which was found to be created under the alias Diamond Scott.
Posting on Facebook last month, she wrote, “I wish someone would love me because the man that’s supposed to does not.”
Days later she took to the platform again, writing, “Sick of irritation, anger, sadness and rage.”
On October 1, Means again took to social media to post: “Everyone, please leave me alone. I’m in love with my daughter, father.”
Adding: “I want my family back. Respectfully Idgaf what I said about him before or what anyone else thinks.”
The day before her death, she posted, “Unfortunately for everyone who wants to get with me… my body only craves one person. GM.”
